I am the eldest Child of three.
My husband is the youngest of four.
We have three children. Two boys and a girl. (The youngest boy and girl are twins).
The children are lucky to have two sets of loving and supportive Grandparents.
My Grandparent’s on my mother side are still with us. They adore having Great Grandchildren.
My husband’s Nan, who will be 100 this year, is still with us!
We have 4 nieces and 2 nephews whom are all gorgeous.
I am Godmother to three children – two beautiful girlies and one scrummy little boy!
I have cousins and Aunts and Uncles that I see all the time. They are very important to us.
We hosted Christmas dinner for 16 members of my side of the family this year.
We have chosen friends to be the godparent’s of our children. They say friends are the family you choose for yourself.
Our family is huge. It is still expanding.
Words cannot really begin to describe exactly how important each and every one of them is to me, and how much they are all loved.
I am thankful everyday that they are healthy. I pray everyday that no-one gets sick.
Family to me is…
Turning up on the doorstep in floods of tears knowing you will be greeted by a hug and a cup of tea.Snuggling up together in bed because the heating is broken and you want to get warm.
Eating round the table, on a picnic rug or in a Wendy house all together!
Climbing to the top of the jungle gym to rescue your littlest who is now too scared to come down, even thought you fear you might not fit through the tube slide!
Sledging in the snow, collecting shells on the beach, walks, bikes rides and puddle splashing. The things that are free but together.
Cinema evenings in with a large bowl of popcorn that you all share.
Staying up all night making an outfit for fancy dress party that they are attending and they want to go as Kermit the frog!
Holding the hair back of the family member being sick.
Making a complete fool of yourself drunk, knowing full well you will be forgiven the next day.
Cuddles.
Playtime.
Car journey’s with mint Imperials and sing along songs!
Family is warm, friendly loving and forgiving.
Family is comforting, supportive, healing, and inspiring.
I have one amazing family.
I have created with my husband another generation of that family.
I hope our family continues to expand.

Awww, what a lovely post. It’s really made me think about all the things that my family are to me too. I wouldn’t, and quite frankly couldn’t, be without mine. They support me in absolutely everything I do. X
Ditto my lovely. Ditto! x
aaahhhh that is so nice…..oh how I wish…my parents/siblings etc are as split and unsupportive as you can possibly get, but Im changing that starting with me, my kids, and my grandkids – we are all there for each other, but I could never write something as beautiful as this
How lovely, my hubby and I both come from small families, his are in Germany and Luxembourg, mine in Australia and we live here in the UK.
I miss not being able to turn up on the doorstep for cuppa, cake and a cry. It’s hard.
So wonderful to have a big family like yours!
I shall imagine that is very hard. My Dad lives in the Phillipines so I can understand where you are coming from and my brother has only just come back from living in Brazil for 2 years, but they are always there and they love you. x
What wonderful images! And they do, they all say family! It is so wonderful being able to give little people the same values that have been as part of your upbringing.
Yes i love being able to pass on those stories and traits but I am lucky to have had such a lovely childhood myself. x
lovely photo of you all there Kerry x
We were all very cold, but happy! x
Aaahh a lovely post and gorgeous picture. I wouldn’t be without my family either xx
They are everything to me. x

I love that cap…it really suits him! Thank you so much, I really enjoyed writing it.

I love our family too, Amy xx

What a great post, and it’s so lovely to hear what it means to you to be part of such a big and close family xx
Thank you – I love having a big family. I hope to have a bigger family all being well. x
ah you sound like the kind of family I want when I am old! I must try hard to cultivate exactly that!
I think it is a combination of lots of breeding and being nice to each other – bobs your uncle a big loving family! x
Ahhh, your family sounds lovely lovely lovely. I’m a bit jealous of your Christmas, I’d love one like that!
Thank you, they are very lovely. It was fun but manic!
Fantastic post! You put me to shame seeing so much of your extended family – that octopus avatar is looking more appropriate all the time 😉
See I really do need 8 arms! x
This is what family sounds like to me! I love your line we chose friends to be Godparents…we had the very same reasons
I know, I like the idea that family does not have to be blood, it is what we make it. x
That is so beautiful and made me cry!! We are lucky to have such amazing families and this exercise is great for reminding us of that!
Ahhh…don’t cry! You are so right! x
Wow! Huge family! Great post too
