I am so lucky in life when it comes to my friends. I have long-term friends that I have known since primary school, I have my two closest friends and secret keepers who I share everything with, I have friends I have made since having the children, my two best girls from university along with friends from work. I consider myself to be very fortunate.
I did not under any circumstances expect to make friends through twitter and blogging. I never imagined meeting them, I never considered we would get along in ‘real life’ and yet we do. I think that twitter brings out the ‘honest you’ in most cases and so when you do meet, what you see is what you get. I have made some fabulous friend in this past year including Hannah from Mummy and the Beastie, Helen from The Crazy Kitchen, The Boy and Me (whose real name cannot be revealed or she loses her blogging superpowers!), Liska from New Mum Online and Katie Mummy Daddy and me Makes three, just to name a few.
However what I never imagined was making a friendship that resulted in working together. It must seem strange when I say to close friends and family I am in partnership for Science Sparks with a girl called Emma (Mummymummymum) from the internet. However it really works. I don’t now if is that we are both Science Geeks, or both mothers of three young children, or both quiet and reserved (please don’t cough and splutter at this, I can be fairly quiet) but we get on like a house on fire. Emma has to be one of the loveliest people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and I am so glad to be going on the Science Sparks adventure with her. It is a juggling act but we are getting there.
This photo was taken at Tots 100 event this Christmas and was a great opportunity to meet up with some lovely people I have got to know and already met and the chance to meet new people. I am really looking forward to Cybher and Britmums for the same reasons this year.
I am so grateful that I took the plunge and signed up to twitter because there are friendships I now have that would not have occurred previously. Friendship is found in the most usual of places like school and work most of the time, and then sometimes out of the blue friendship sparks from somewhere quite unexpected.
