Sleeping Beauty

Sorry for the lack of updates but MM has endured a tough couple of weeks. The infections continued to make her very sleepy and it was rare for anyone to get a response from her. She had another operation on Friday and we are hopeful the infection is now under control. As a result she has been more awake in the last couple of days and she even stroked my arm on Tuesday.

BB, of course started school and on the first day as we walked to school for the first time, he announced, ‘Mummy usually walks me to school.’ The day was made tougher watching all the proud Mums and Dads waving their offspring to class.

Nevertheless, the day improved as BB had a great day (and that’s what MM would be thinking is the most important thing) and then he threw the biggest tantrum because he wanted to wear his uniform to the beach!

Throughout this whole ordeal I have been overwhelmed by the support given to the family, whether this by our employers, our friends, or the schools and nurseries the children attend. Thank you.

So we now face another week of fresh challenges and perhaps the biggest and most worrying is that ‘Chilled Out Boy’ has asked for a ‘Pirate Birthday Cake’ ….. ‘Just like Mummy made for his brother.’ Now that will be one photo that won’t be posted on Facebook or make Silent Sunday.

  • Aw you are doing an amazing job keeping the home fires burning, your new career in blogging AND cake decorating too, Kerry would be very proud of you!! So pleased to hear that she is making steady progress and that BB’s first day went well. Thank you for the updates, you are all always in our thoughts x

  • Thanks for keeping us updated. I don’t know how much use this is to you, but I’ve been sent this link – http://mummyisagadgetgeek.co.uk/?p=1394
I don’t think I would be able to manage this one, but then I’m rubbish at cake. The making part, anyway.

  • Thank you for the update, I have been checking almost every day! Good luck with the cake ;)

  • Hope the worst is over! Keep getting better MM, sending our love x

  • Thanks for the update, you are all always in my thoughts and I hope Kerry continues to improve. Glad BB enjoyed his first day at school and hope you manage to make an amazing Pirate cake!!

  • I hope she is getting stronger as each day goes by. Good luck with the cake, I think you should post a picture :)

  • Lovely to hear your updates as tough as it is for you all, Kerry is never far from my thoughts and I love she stroked your arm.
As for the cake I’m sure you’ll do perfectly (with help maybe?) If not a flag with skull and crossbones stuck into a bought chocolate supermarket cake will do the trick. I know Asda do Pirate cake candles.

Another option I’ve seen which is easy is stacked choc cupcakes in the form of the boat with flag and skull and crossbone icing on top of each
Good luck and much love to Kerry

  • thank you for taking the time in your own hour of pain and suffering to think of us all.I like all the others really do appreciate the updates, and I hope in return you get some strength form the genuine love and kind thoughts that are being sent your way. Nice to hear about every positive step forward, and it bet it brought tears to your eyes. temper tantrums are normal after the first day at school, everybody is tired and fraught and Im sure he would have done just the same for mummy.
I dont think it will matter too much if you buy a cake and decorate it to the best of your ability – it will have been done with love and that in the long run is what is important.

hug hugs and loving thoughts to you all.

  • MD you are amazing, Kerry will be so proud of you. As for the cake, if anyone can do it I think it may be you. Glad Kerry is doing a bit better. Sounds like she’s having a tough time but she will get there. It’s great she had the energy to stroke your arm, it must be very reassuring for you. I hope this week is a good one for you all. You remain in our thoughts x

  • Thanks for the update, so pleased to hear she is fighting, if you need anything…

  • Keep strong. Kerry’s constantly in my thoughts. Love the fact BB wanted to wear his uniform to the beach – cool kid! x

  • Thanks so much for the update. As always, Kerry is always in my thoughts
    XxX

  • First can I say I think you are amazing updating Kerry’s blog like this and really really appreciate the updates. Huge congratulations on BB’s first day. Bet the pirate cake will be awesome. I have a very easy treasure chest one that you can’t fail on, shout if you want it! Sending lots more love and strength to your family. Penny.

  • Thank you for this update – great to hear that she is doing well and that you are coping well today under very tough circumstances.

  • Becky (babybudgeting)

    We are praying xxx

  • Thanks for the update. Any cake you make will be super because it will be made with love. Best wishes to you all.

  • Wonderful to hear that she is still fighting. I thought of you all in the first week of school and I’m glad it went well :)

  • It’s good to hear that Kerry has been improving a little. As soon as I read about the cake I was thinking “Treasure Chest” which someone else has suggested. Make (or get someone else to make) a deep rectangular cake. Cut out the centre to make a hole in it so that it looks like an empty chest, slap some frosting on and then fill it with treasure – chocolate coins, gem like sweets etc.

  • Michelle Twin Mum

Praying for you all, so glad your little man had a good start to school and praying for a miracle in Kerry’s recovery.
