Last week I received the most beautiful box of Happy Feet Goodies from Warner Brothers. I have the fondest memories of Happy Feet because I saw the first film in the cinema with my brother and Mum (hubby refused to attend!) and embarrassed them so much when I loudly exclaimed ‘I don’t want a baby, I want a penguin!” My brother told my husband this story and that christmas I got an adopted penguin as my Christmas present from hubby saying ‘Now you you’ve got your penguin, can we have a baby’ That year I fell pregnant with Noah!
So when I was asked to review Happy Feet Two, I couldn’t resist. BBhad already been introduced to the first Happy Feet and was a fan, so he was very excited when this turned up. Hubby was thrilled by the hat – funny the things that impress men isn’t it!?
Any how, we snuggled up to watch it and we were very impressed. The film is based on another baby penguin, Mumble’s son Erik, and he is even cuter and littler than Mumble was! Set in Antarctica it tells the story of Mumble’s difficulties at being a Daddy when his son is very reluctant to dance and find that he can’t find his beat. Erik feels that he doesn’t fit in, and runs away. He finds another penguin called Sven who can fly! Erik is in awe and Mumble feel that he cannot compete with his sons new role model and fears he has failed as a father.
The disaster strikes, as the entire nation of Emperor penguins become trapped by a huge iceberg. Mumble has to get all the creates, big and small on the other side to work together to rescue them and it is only then that Erik sees the determination and guts in his father and starts to find his beat!
The film has wonderful song choices and awesome voices and contain the best penguin dancing ever. Chilled out Boy is becoming a master of the penguin dance!
The film features the voices of Elijah Wood, Robin Williams, Hank Azaria, Alecia Moore (P!nk), Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Sofia Vergara, Common, Hugo Weaving, Magda Szubanski, Anthony LaPaglia, Richard Carter and Benjamin “Lil P-Nut” Flores, Jr. The animation itself is brilliant and so effective. The baby penguins looks so soft you feel you could touch them on the screen.
The release date for this wonderful family film Happy Feet 2 is the 26th March (today!) and it is a must have DVD for your collection. A real guilty pleasure and one that I won’t groan at any time BBwants to watch it.
