MOMenTUM!

MOMenTUM is a fabulous scheme created by the lovely Liska at Mummy Online to try and lose weight and get in shape.

She says:

‘For anyone reading this who doesn’t know… there is a group of us trying to lose weight together to lose our Mum Tums. It is no coincidence that the word momentum has the words “mom” and “tum” in there. We give each other a nudge or a kick or simply a reminder by being there, on Twitter each day.’

Now I don’t own any scales and make a rule not to weigh myself because I think that I could be the sort of person who gets obsessive over it. I know I weigh heavier than people think and it just makes for an awkward conversation, so I go by dress size. I have lately been working very hard before MOMenTUM was created and am now back to a consistent size 10 – I think it is just the fact that three under three means you have little time to eat! At my biggest I was a larger size 12 (nearly 14). At only 5ft 3in this was just silly!

So I want to maintain this but I also want to get healthy. Being slim does not equal healthiness. So I am using MOMenTUM to help support me in this.

This is my plan!

1. To drink more fluids.

I can go a whole day after having a cup of tea in the morning without a drink. My skin is rubbish, I often get urine infections and I think I just need to flush things through a bit more. My plan is to drink a glass of water every two hours and anything else in between is a bonus! I know this will make me wee more but we are potty training anyway so I can just use it as an excuse for us both to go!

2. To get fruit and veg in me

I am a terrible fruit and veg eater – I go for rubbish over salad every time! So I plan to drink a fruit smoothie in the morning (2 of my 5 a day) a banana as a snack (3) and 2 vegetables at dinner time! 5/5! Job done.

3. To complete initially 50 sit ups a day to improve that mummy tummy and tone up, especially as my wonderful dance class has finished. I will increase this as it gets easier.

4. To make sure I walk somewhere with the kids everyday – even if it just to the local shop. (To be fair I am out a lot!)

5. To take my makeup off every night to try and give my skin a chance! Must improve skincare!

So this is my plan.

I am very lucky to have the girls at MOMenTUM for support.

If  you want to join in, head over to Liska’s blog and she now has a linky for you to get involved. It is always good to work as a team on these things!

Good luck!

x

Glad you have joined in! I am the same as you, not a great veg eater although I love fruit. I am trying to incorporate more veg in my food! I don't want to pass on my fussiness to Beastie (but I guess you never know what they may end up liking).

I have found that I drink much more when I have a bottle of water on the go, so get a big bottle and then you know for sure what you have had, also easier just to grab!

Oh dear take that makeup off young lady! lol xx

What a great idea! I have 2 months til my wedding dress fitting and need to lose half a stone, perhaps I will join in as the first week of trying to be better has not really gone very well x Best of luck to you x

Drink more fluids and take make-up off. I might join you in that! Trying to click on links to Liska's blog, but they don't seem to be working… could be my computer?

I just wrote a long comment but I don't know what happened to it.

    Thanks for the mention gorgeous!

Love your post. Can't "weight" to hear about our success stories as we progress – LOL. I too stay away from the scales and go more by how my clothes fit and how I look and feel.

It is good to do these things as a team isn't it.

    Hugs, Liska x

Sometimes it's just as difficult to maintain, tone up and eat healthily as it is to lose a ton of weight. I am only 5ft and I am unfortunately a size 16-18 so I have far to go. I think it's great that we all have different goals and plans but we can still be a support to each other. Who needs Weightwatchers!

Such a fab idea! I've just been over for a peek as I'm also trying to shift my mummy tummy :)

I am very impressed with all you ladies doing this. I wish I had the motivation to do it! You are all going to look fabulous at Cybermummy!! xx

I have made it a blog hop now if you want to add the code to the bottom of your post xx

  • Ooh Baby - All things Cuteable

Oh yip, my belly is huge at the moment and I can't stop eating carbs. I literally cannot stop eating and feeling like a fat pig at the moment. I'm trying yoga now to see if I can tone up. I've had "issues" with my weight in the past so although I would love to join in the blog-hop, it might make me obsessive about it – not a good road to go down for me, so I will just have a wee read if thats ok with everyone. Maybe I can join in with the moral supporting part? Great idea Liska ;o) xx

  • Working london mummy

well done and a great idea to put it in writing and online (for eternity, note…!) must do same. x

  • would like to be a yummy mummy

I thought I left a comment here before but its not published..whoops must have done something wrong. Anyway great to have you on board. Loving all the support its definitely helping.

I think I might have the answer to our prayers! The lazy girls answer to exercise hee hee…. toning shorts. They are shorts you wear that send electric currents down your hips, bum and thighs. I already have a toning belt and that's how I toned up after having my first.

Anyway, I have been asked to review some and have another four pairs (was 5 but my Sister notyetayummymummy has bagged herself a pair already). Do you fancy trialling them with me??? Just leave a comment on my page or DM me if you do.

    Thanks
