I was a very lucky girl last week and was invited to the Prima Fashion awards by Freya Lingerie (who I also blog for in their Fitting Talk Blog) held at the Battersea Evolution Marquee in London. It was a night of Fashion, frolics and wearing those shoes for me!
I was so nervous as I has been told that although it was not a black tie event, it was glamorous and I felt this was quite a struggle with only a few days notice! Anyway my secret weapon was the most beautiful pair of shoes that I own and from those I managed to put together something so that I didn’t look a complete wash out. Here is how I scrubbed up but actually I think the dress is not that great but hey ho!
I was indulged in a hotel for the night as it was going to be a late evening with an after party and when I arrived I had 3 hours to indulge in getting ready in my own time. No child wanting to get in the bath with me. No child managing to get hold of my foundation and squeeze half the contents down the front of my dress and no child to have to get ready and presentable either. I have to say for one night it was bliss.
I met up with the Freya girls and when we travelled onto the venue. I was so impressed by the red carpet and the sparkly lit ceiling. Unfortunately due to the girls having a late meeting we missed the beginning part with all the different companies doing hair, nails and makeup but apparently it was heaving so I take comfort in the fact that I probably would not have got a go at anything anyway. (*Wipe small tear from eye!*)
We were taken through to the main room and seated at out table. The room was set out like a giant wedding only with a catwalk down the middle and the tables had these magnificent crystal lamps on them.
The food was incredible… here is the menu!
and here is the the yummy cheesecake pudding!
As for the drink, well I am not really an alcohol person and if I do drink it is usually Tia Maria. I don’t know if it was nerves but the Rose wine slipped down a treat that night and was actually very delicious.
After the meal we were entertained by a beautifully choreographed catwalk show of all the High streets shops Autumn/Winter Collections and I looked on wishfully. Then for the awards.
Winners during the night included Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and John Lewis but Next won the overall retailer of the year award!
Celebrities included Joe McElderry, Michelle Collins who supported the Breakthrough breast cancer campaign, Elen Rivas, Michelle Heaton and Angelica Belle (who are both expecting babies) and Andrea Mclean. Unfortunately I did not get to speak to any of them, but then why would they want to?
I did have some photo’s of them presenting but my zoom is not very good and actually they still look like dots and could be anyone so I have decided not to put them on.
After wards it was back into the ‘Comfort’ cocktail bar and onto party. I have danced in years and wow have I missed it! My shoes were so amazing that when we left at quater past two in the morning my feet were not hurting one bit! If you would like to read more see my freya post over on Fitting Talk!
To top the evening off I left with a magnificent goody bag!
