We get through so many eggs in this house (omelette lovers) and are left with loads of shells. I was trying to think of something I could do with them and so I decided to see if they would take on a colour through food dye.
I put some egg shells in different bowls filled with water and different coloured food dye – I used red, blue and yellow. You need to make sure the eggs shells are thoroughly washed out other wise you will end up staining the inside film.
The colours took really well, except for the yellow which was just too close to the egg-shell colour to really show up.
I took them out and left them to dry. Then the kids and I smashed them to pieces!
I used an Easter rabbit cutter to draw a rabbit shape onto folded card making sure the tail overlapped the fold so that when cut out, that would be the joining side.
Spread lots of glue over your rabbits (or chosen design) and sprinkle with your egg-shell. The last car we did a mix up of the shells.
The add some fluffy tails and you have a very different Easter card but cool Easter card!
